Display Cloth

Okay that's it, I'm done!

I NOW remember why I don't like doing free form embroidery!

So I am taking out my stitches again..

And now my dear husband Michael is gonna do these designs for me with his handy dandy embroidery machine! :)

I have enough to worry about right now without being all stressed on this display cloth.

I still have my paper to finish for Queen's Prize, finish my project, get stuff together, make sure Bran remembers to bring candles!

Merry Christmas

Well I got to open my gift early cause Michael has to work tomorrow.. And he got me the one thing I wanted more than anything else!

A Kitchen Aide Classic Mixer!

I am so happy! :)

I have already used it once tonight--I made a pound cake for Michael to take to work with him tomorrow! What normally took me 45 min with a hand mixer (it is very thick, very voluminous batter) took me only 20 min with this new mixer! :) And the best part is that the parts are dishwasher safe!

I LOVE my new toy!

Clobbered by the Sheep AND the dog!

I don't think anyone will believe my day! Sigh..

Was in Springfield all day, then came home around three and then went out with the sheep.. Well I figured I would kill two birds with one stone.

1) Go out to see the sheep and 2) let the dog run! That was where I made my first mistake! ARGGG

Since it has been raining here the past two days, Lady has not been out for her run. Well I let her in with the sheep and she decided to be VERY onery! She chased them for a bit, then the sheep went and hid in their house, so she decided to pester me.. I was sitting on the ground and she went to paw at me and scratched my face instead! ARGG

Then off she went running the length of the field. In the meantime, Bert ventured out and was standing on my left side and Ernie was on my right side. Well here comes Lady full tilt and rather than go around me, Bert (the white sheep) plowed right into my left side to get away from the dog. Oh how I hurt.

And to add insult to injury I just got adjusted at my Chiropractor on Tuesday! I am cursed! The last time I got adjusted (last month), the day after I twisted my ankle and fell and then this month, I get clobbered by a sheep!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

Oh well it could be worse I guess..

Display Coth and other things.

Well I am not happy with the way the design is coming out on the display cloth I am making. So I am again taking out stitches.. sigh..

But what I am gonna do instead is put my device in all four corners. I think it will look better that way anyways.

Things are going good here otherwise.

I am burnishing paper for my Queen's Prize Project. It won't be too much longer and I will have to start actually writing out the contract! :) I will be so happy when I get this project done!

Michael is gonna have to build me a special frame for my half though.. So I can put it up on my living room wall! :)

Christmas is less than a week away! Where has the year gone? It has just flown by!

Sunday

Well today has been pretty slow.

Went out, got a paper, came home, read the paper, made some lunch..

Then the fun began!

I opened up my new bottle of Iron Gall ink and gave it a go! It is VERY different from India ink, let me tell you!

For one, it goes on a light gray and then darkens up on the page as it sits. This is a bit confusing to tell the truth. Cause I am still learning how much ink I need to use to make sure the letters all come out the same color! So far it seems I need to dip my quill in more ink after every two letters.

The bottle also says to wash your pens in soap and water after you use this ink, cause it will eat through them! Creepy huh? Well I am using a quill, but I am still applying that rule to the quill, cause I don't want to take any chances.. I mean if it will eat through metal, a quill doesn't stand a chance!

Other than that, it is pretty quiet. Gonna go work on my Display cloth. Sigh, at this rate I am never gonna get it done for Queen's Prize!

Ink!

My Iron Gall Ink came in the mail today! YAYYY!

Tomorrow I am gonna try it out and then I will post what I think of it. :)

I also ordered 300 sheets of natural color parchment! :) I can't wait for it to get here.

Life Goes On

Oh I hate writing papers! I really do!

I know why I have to write them, but I don't have to like it, so there! :P

Okay I am done ranting about that! :)

Things are good here other than that.. Lady, our Great Pyranese, is doing better. I know she misses Holly, but I am spending extra time with her every day and then I am also letting her run with the sheep every day now too.

Oh they are so funny! I was worried at first cause it seemed like Lady was chasing the sheep. But as it turns out, she chases them a bit, then she stops and Bert (the white sheep) nudges her and takes off. If she doesn't follow right away, he comes back, nudges her more forcefully and takes off again.. Ernie (the black one) isn't quite as sure about her yet, but he seems to enjoy some of the fun. :)

Also, as I discovered this afternoon, the sheep will actually chase the dog!

We are hoping that eventually we can have them together all the time. But for right now it is supervised playtime only!

Michael is doing better too, his cold is almost gone. I have started taking Grapefruit Seed Extract, Immunity Formula to help me. And I also have the liquid Grafefruit Seed Extract to put on my hands since I have eczema. It seems to be helping.

Tomorrow is Payday! YAYYYYYYYYYYYY I get to go shopping! WOO HOO Well it is just to the grocery store, but hey, you gotta take your fun where you can get it right?

And just because I find pleasure in "small" things doesn't mean I don't have a life by the way! (Those of you who have said that to me, know who you are) So :P

I can't believe that Christmas is a little over a week away! The weather is nuts! It is gonna be 70 this weekend!

I have all Michael's presents bought and wrapped! :)

Iron Gall Ink

Thanks to Ilaria, I have been able to order some Iron Gall (Oak Gall) ink. I got it from a site called "Paper & Ink Arts". Here is there website for anyone one who might be interested:

http://www.paperinkarts.com/shop.html

I am excited about it.. Cause now, even though my ink making failed, I can still try and use period ink! Makes me much happier about this project!

Weekend

Well we went to KC for the weekend and we had a really good time. We went to the SCA event, got to see friends, did some shopping, etc..

On a sad note, we lost our Rotweiller, Holly this weekend. Michael's family had her mother, so Michael has had Holly since she was a puppy. She was 10 years old and we will miss her very much.

Kris Kinder

Well it is 4 days til Kris Kinder! December 9th! YAYYYYY

I can't wait.. We are going to KC on Friday and will come home on Sunday. :) I am very excited! I am gonna shop til I drop (though in my case that might not be too long)!

Right now I am in the middle of attempting (notice I say attempting) to make Biscotti! It is in the oven right now for the "1st" baking. Then I have to take it out, cut it into pieces and cook it again!

It was not that hard to make, just hoping it comes out right. :)

Oakheart Event

Well we made it to the event on Saturday.. Not a lot of people there cause of the weather though..

1st thing I did when we got there was fall on the ice though. :( I went to get out of the van and my feet just slid out from under me. I hit my left arm and left leg and hip.. Oh I am so sore now!

I a few new people, had some good chats..

We had to leave early though.. Michael didn't feel good, he has a cold and I was really starting to hurt by that point..

So we missed the Post Revel too.

My new Inkstand!

I finally got an inkstand! Found it on ebay!

It is called a "Counting House Inkstand" They used these from the middle of the sixteenth Century into the 17th.. Once in the 17th century they added a metal base to it..

The one I have is a replica and is made of pewter!
