Fleeces
Here are the boys' fleeces. These are the first fleeces we have gotten from Bert and Ernie. I am so excited about it!
I am going to use at least part if not all of their fleeces for a ground up project for SCA. I have raised the sheep, Michael sheared the sheep, now I am going to spin their wool and make something out of it.
Not sure what I am going to make yet, will have to wait and see.
Bert's fleece is on the left (the white one) and Ernie's is on the right (the gray/blackish one). The flash of the camera makes them look a bit lighter than they are. Oh and of course one of my cats, Nahla, just had to get in the picture. :)
Leaving Geese Out!
Well yesterday was a big day here for me and the Geese! Yesterday was the first time I didn't fasten them up at night. I left them out all night with the sheep.
I was really worried about them.. I mean in our area we have foxes, coyotes, racoons, and oppossums.
But apparently they stayed up with the sheep and near the dog pen, so everyone is fine and dandy this morning. :)

Anniversary!
Well today is Michael and I's 3rd Anniversary.
We actually celebrated this past Saturday though, cause he had to work today.
I can't believe we have been married for 3 years now! In August, though, we will have been together for 5 years, since we dated for two before we got married. :)

Fiber Fair
Michael and I went to the Fiber Fair in Marshfield yesterday.
They had all sorts of fleeces, yarn, looms and spinning wheels. They also had Alpacas and Ramboulliet (sp?) sheep there.
My friend Tammy was there with all of her Shetland fleeces. She is who I got Bert and Ernie from. :)
And of course, even though I have wool already coming out my ears, I couldn't leave without a fleece of my own. And it came from one of Tammy's sheep! :)
It is a beautiful Shetland fleece, solid black! So you can see why I HAD to have it! :)

Geese
Whoever said that geese do not have personalities, didn't know what in the world he/she was talking about!
My geese are so neat! Doc, my alpha, he will come over and climb in my lap, groom my hair, play with the buttons on my shirt and just generally chatter at me. :)
And I am starting to be able to tell apart the rest of my geese too, just by differences in their heads mainly. Some have more round heads, some have more square..
It is so neat to watch them every day. They wander around so cheerful and funny!
In the mornings when they go out, they all flap their wings as hard as they can and run across the field. Yesterday one of them even made it off the ground about half a foot! I nearly had a heart attack!
And whoever said they don't "put themselves up" at night has never spent any time around geese at all! All I have to do in the evenings is go outside and walk over towards their pen and they are inside before I am halfway there!
The other day I caught Doc, my alpha goose, grooming Bert, my white sheep.. I was totally flabbergasted by that!
It was really neat to watch though! First he groomed his side and then he reached up and groomed Bert's ear.. Now that in itself was an amazing feat cause Bert HATES to have his ears messed with. I was really surprised Bert stood still for that.
