Pool for Geese!

Michael did a really nice thing for both me and the geese today! He built them a small pool to play/bathe/drink in. :)

It is really cool! As you can see from the pics it is pretty good size too! All 6 geese CAN fit in it at once!

And it is really easy to keep clean. The way he has it set up, is it is just a frame with plastic lining it. To clean it you just fold over the plastic, pick up the frame, the plastic falls back down through flat, and poof, all the water just runs off! Then you can rinse it off with a hose and set it back up again! No lifting! YAYYY

It is so neat to watch them splash and play in it. They are still getting used to it as Michael just set it up about half an hour ago.

Here are some pics of the pool and then when I can I will get a few pics with the geese in it!

Rainy, Rainy!

Well for the past two days here it has not done much but rain! ICK!

The geese love it, but the sheep are not as thrilled!

Our Great Pyr likes to be out in the weather, but not with the downpours going on.. She has been staying in her house!

Other than that things are pretty quiet here..

I have to get started writing my paper for July.

New pics of geese!

I thought everyone might like to see an updated pic of all my geese! :)

Shearing!

Okay we finally got the boys sheared today, though not without some problems..

We were underneath the shed area, but it started raining in the middle of all this and the wind was blowing! ARGGG..

And of course the sheep did NOT want to hold still, which resulted in a few unavoidable cuts to their skin.. :( They are both okay though.. :)

Here is what they look like now:

Frustrating Project

Well I am STILL having problems with my project.. Through a friend's suggestion I added what was thought to be the title (Everything is in Italian) and discovered that actually Rime means exactly that--Rhyme.. It is not the title, it just means it is one of the author's Rhymes.. ARGGGGGG

Well I found it one other place now, but it is still all in Italian.. ARGGGGGG.. Tried a translator and that didn't work as some of the words do not translate, or at least they did not in this program!

So tomrorrow I am going to try and call the V&A Museum in London and see what they can tell me.

Weekend Plans

Well I was supposed to go to Kansas City this weekend and help with the demo. Unfourtantely, my van has other ideas!

My brakes are squealing really bad for one and it is leaking like a sieve.. So I am unable to go :(

Thankfully though, my friend in charge of the demo has all the information I sent her and the supplies needed to just lay it all out so everyone can see it. So I am very glad about that.

Shearing!

Well we went and sheared sheep on Tues.. We only got to do 4 of the 7 though because the blades on the shearing machine went dull.

We are waiting right now to get them sharpened and some more blades. Then we will go back and shear the other three sheep..

I will try and post pictures of that then.

Lady

This is our Great Pyrenese, Lady. She is three years old. She was supposed to be our "Guardian dog" for the sheep etc.. But we kinda ruined that by making her our baby instead.

She is a good watchdog though. If anything or person is here that shouldn't be, she lets you know about it. And her pen is close enough to the geese and the sheep's pen, that not much gets close to them either.

Michael also takes her for a run around our property every day. 1)so she can get a lot of exercise and 2)so she knows her boundaries.

We are talking about breeding her, but have to wait to find out a few things first. Great Pyrs often have something called "Hip Displaysia" and until we get her X-rayed and find out for sure we will not breed her. If she does have it, then we will not breed her because it is hereditary and she would pass it on to her puppies.

But either way, she is still our baby. :)

New Pics of Geese!

Top left if my Alpha Goose. His name is Doc.. He is very friendly and will even climb up in my lap. The others are all dwarves--Happy, Sleepy, Dopey, Bashful, and Dopey. I just don't have them all sorted into their names yet. :)
The geese have gotten so big! I, with the help of my mother in law, am almost postive I have three males and three females..
The geese are now getting big enough I can actually tell them apart. I know to most people they all look alike, but there are differences in the patterns on their faces, their sizes are a bit differernt and even their eyes are different. You get to know these things when you are around them all the time.

New Thing

I am doing one new thing in regards to my Calligraphy.

To help me keep in practice, when I write in my SCA journal, I am only writing in Italic Calligraphy with my quill.

It has been a bit challenging and as it takes awhile to write out words, it really makes you stop and think what you really want to say, etc.

And I am the type of person that I can type as fast as I think, so it has been a REAL challenge for me, stopping and thinking exactly what I want to say and then putting it down on paper.

Pretty quiet

Things are pretty quiet around here.

Just working on my projects--Calligraphy, Blackwork, Spinning, taking care of animals, etc..

We will be shearing the boys before too much longer. Sometime before the 17th of April. After that I will have to wash it and card it. Then I can start spinning it and try and figure out a good project for it after it is all spun up.

Just have to wait and see I guess.. sigh..

Oh how I wish Crocheting was period! ARGGG.. Oh well, such is life on that one..

The geese are getting really big, I will have to take some more pictures soon and put them online.

I won't be taking any more pics of the boys until we shear them, then I will put them up on the blog! :)
