Weekend

Well we had an interesting weekend.. We had an SCA event on Saturday. Got there about 9am, had a good morning, but then about 12pm my pump started malfunctioning! Never could get it straigtened out so we had to leave about 2:30pm.. :( So we didn't get to stay for the evening part of the event and missed a few good things.. sigh..

We got home, I finally got my pump straightened out, then I fell over a board on the front porch and totally scratched up my leg. I am fine, but it looks horrible!

Today I watched the NASCAR race on TV. It was a good race, they were at Bristol, TN this weekend. Kyle Busch won the race, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. finshed 9th! YAYYYYY

Today

Well things are going pretty well here.

I went down to my friend's yesterday and spent the night. It was a lot of fun. Gave their little boy a basket that is also a plush dragon! It is so cute and it fits so great for his Easter basket since they are in the SCA also. :)

The geese are getting huge! Tomorrow Michael will have the pen finished and they will go outside full time. I am really gonna miss having them inside, but it is time for them to be out.

They have been going out d uring the day and then coming in at night. After tomorrow they will have their own building and their own pen. Then after they grow a bit more and we are sure they can't get out of the pasture fence, they will be turned out with the sheep! :)

It has been a bit hectic trying to spend enough time with the geese and the sheep. Once they are all in the same pasture it won't be so hard and I can kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. :)

The sheep are doing well, they are fat and happy! Their wool is starting to "roo"(that means come off by itself basically), but only around their head and ears. We are planning on shearing them around the end of April. I can't wait for that!

Once we shear them, I will wash, card, and spin their wool. Then I will spin it, ply it and put it into skeins. Then I am not sure what I am doing yet. I need to find something to do with it, so I can complete my "ground up" project. Just not sure what the final product will be. I have a really hard time knitting--hurts my hands. I may try and weave something with it, not sure at this point.

Lady (the Great Pyr) and Suzie(the Pomeranian) are both doing fine. Onery as ever! :) Nahla (the calico kitty) is doing fine. But Simba(my big tabby) has been sick. :( He had a runny nose for about a week and I took him to the vet. But the vet is worried cause only one side of his nose is runny. But he put him on antibiotics and we are gonna wait about another week and a half and go from there. Right now I don't want to even think about what it could be if the antibiotics don't work. Simba SEEMS to feel better, but his nose is still running, so we just have to wait and see..

Projects:

I have run into a small snag on my Calligraphy project, am waiting for someone to email me back with an answer.

Blackwork is going well. I am working on the last sleeve! YAYYY Once I have this sleeve done, the entire chemise is done! YIPEEE This sleeve is going a bit quicker than the other one did though..

Also I will have a new blackwork project too. I got some linen napkins the other day and I am going to do blackwork around the edges and then give them to Largesse.

I really don't have a Tablet weaving project at the moment, still looking for a new one.. sigh..

My spinning is going great as usual. :) That is always gonna be my first love! :)

Other than all that, things are pretty quiet around here.

Sheep!

Well I finally was able to take some new pics of the boys! They have been awhile in coming!

They are doing so well. They have gotten all big and fluffy! I can't wait to shear them.

We are planning on shearing them near the end of April or around the first part of May. Depends on the weather as well.

I can't wait to get ahold of their wool! :)

Geese!

I can't believe I have only had the geese for two weeks now! They have gotten huge! Now Michael says they are almost ready to go out in the chicken pen. :( I figured I would have them inside for two or three months like I normally do the chickens.

But we have them in the largest cage we have and they are almost too big for it now!

I have been taking them outside just about every day and they have a blast in their pen as you can see above.

Right now they are eating chicken starter and have just added hay to their diet. They do eat grass when they go outside too.

What a few days!

What a few days I have had!

About a week ago I had cut my hand on the smaller cage we had the geese in (I caught my hand on a loose piece of mesh).

Well it had just about healed up, when yesterday I was trying to take the geese out of their larger cage to take them outside. Well I was trying to reach one of the geese that was in the back corner and I lost my balance and re-cut my hand open on the edge of the larger cage! Oh what a mess! I am fine, but my hand isn't for the moment. I cannot pick anything up with my left hand for now either..

I am going to try and take the geese out tomorrow if it is warm enough, will just have to wait and see.. Poor guys, they haven't got to go out for two days now..

Other than that, they are fine though! :) Getting bigger and bigger every day. :)

1st Day Out!

It was finally warm enough today to take the goslings outside! YAYYYY

The minute I got them out of their box, they ran towards me and converged upon me literally! If I had ANY doubts that they have bonded to me, those doubts are gone now!

As you can see from the pictures, they wanted to be right next to me at all times.. They were even crawling over me! :)

I got up and walked around the pen and they followed me every step of the way. Every once in awhile they would stop and nibble some grass or a leaf or a twig!

I only kept them out a half hour, I didn't want them to get too cold.

New Pic of Geese!

Well here they are!

We got them moved out to the back porch into a much bigger cage and they are doing fine! They also have a bigger water container! :)

But look how big they have gotten! Compare this pic to the one further down on this blog and you will see what I mean!

First Bath

Well the geese got their first bath today!

I put about three inches of warm water in the tub (yes I measured it) and then added the geese!

They were not real sure what to make of it though.. They all stayed in a tight little pack. After a few min they would dip their heads under water and then shake their heads and they were preening themselves and each other. But they never did venture away from each other.

It is all new to them and I am sure they will grow more accustomed to it.. :) They get to have another bath on Tuesday.

Later this afternoon, they are going into a bigger cage! They have literally doubled their size in one week!

Unfourtantely the bigger cage will not fit in the house, so we will have to put them on the back porch. We are gonna add extra heat lamps and make sure part of the cage is covered so they can stay nice and warm..

I am a bit unhappy though cause I was not ready for them to go out on the porch yet! I want to keep them inside with me. Oh well, it isn't like I can't bring them in the house at all :) I have a big rubbermaid tub I can put them in and bring them inside! :)

Hopefully I will get some more pictures of them later today!

I only left them in their ten min, so they wouldn't get too chilled.

Pen for the Geese!

Michael built me a small pen today so I can take the goslings outside.

I wasn't able to do so today cause it has been too cold and too windy.

But I am hoping that tomorrow I can take them out for a bit! That is gonna be so much fun! :) And hopefully I will get some good pictures of that too.. I am gonna try anyways. :)
