My projects--continued!

Okay here are the other two main projects I am working on!

1) Blackwork---For those that don't know this is 16th century English Embroidery.
I am working on three projects for this.

The first is the collar, cuffs, sleeves and front of a chemise/shirt
for a friend of mine.

The second is the forepart of a skirt for a 16th century Elizabethan
dress. I am doing a pattern of Tudor roses (2nd picture) all down the
front.

The third is a display/tablecloth for my table when I enter competitions.

2) Calligraphy(1st pic)---My calligraphy project is very special to me. The style I am doing
is Italic. I am attempting for this project to make my own ink, and
a friend of mine who makes "period" paper is giving me several
sheets as well.

The actual project is of my Apprentice Contract, between myself
and my Laurel, Bran.

I am very excited about this project! I am entering it into Queen's
Prize in January and then I am going to frame it and hang it up on
my living room wall. :)

My projects!

Well I have quite a few projects going right now, I will add pictures as I get them.

1) Spinning(1st pic)--It is VERY rare that I am not working on my spinning at least once a day, if not
more. I spin several types of wool, i.e. Merino, Shetland, Jacob, Manx Logthan,
Ryeland, etc.

I use a top whorl drop spindle and I LOVE it!

2) Tablet Weaving(2nd pic)--I just got done making several different samples of trim for my Laurel,
Bran to look at. This is for a shirt of his.

Once he decides on a pattern he likes, that will be my next project.

Getting ready for Crown Tournament!

Well I am in the middle of packing things up for Crown Tourney this coming weekend. We are camping, believe it or not! I am still not convinced I have not lost my mind on this one!

Sigh, oh well, have heater will travel! :)

So I have been washing outfits, packing up essentials, and generally making a mess of my living room!

We are just about done though! YAAYYYYY

All that is left to do now is drop Suzie off at "grandma's", pack the van and take off on Friday! WOO HOO! "Grandma" by the way is gonna come over and check on the cats, big dogs and the sheep while we are gone!

Suzie, Holly and Lady

Here are our three dogs:

Suzie our Pomeranian

Holly our Rotweiller and

Lady our Great Pyranese.

Nahla

This is our Nahla. She is a calico kitty and she weighs 9 pounds.

She is very mischevious and is always on the lookout for a mouse!

Simba

This is Simba our BIG tabby! He weighs 20 pounds and is all about being in your lap!

Bert and Ernie

These are the two newest memebers of our ever growing family! Two Shetland sheep named Bert and Ernie. Bert is the white one and Ernie is the black one.

They are six months old and lots of fun!

They are my "fiber flock" and in the Spring we will shear them and then I will spin their wool.
